When we understand knowledge-based systems, it will be as before—except our fingertips will have been singed.Alan Perlis, Epigrams in Programming
The most recent release of Stardog, 0.9.5, is beta software: it's generally safe to use, but please plan accordingly.
We make no guarantees with respect to backward compatibility until 1.0. We will try to avoid API breakage and to maintain, more importantly, binary compatibility of the databases on disk; but while we're still in alpha or beta, all bets are off.
Your use of Stardog 0.9.5 is governed by the license terms distributed with the software; those terms basically require you to refrain from distributing Stardog to anyone outside your organization.
Stardog 1.0 will be available in Community, Developer, and Enterprise editions; Community will be a feature subset of Enterprise, but will be available for use without license fees.
Details about the differences in these editions will be made available as we get closer to 1.0 release.
See the Quick Start Guide for an installation recipe.
To test that your Stardog installation is functioning properly, you can use the command-line client as described in the Admin chapter.
During the run-up to the 1.0 release, Stardog is supported via the Stardog support forum, stardog@clarkparsia.com, which is available to testers. To become a Stardog tester, fill out this form.
Commercial maintenance and support contracts will be available for Stardog Developer and Enterprise beginning with the 1.0 release. Please email if you're interested in commercial support.
During the pre-1.0 testing period, please use the Stardog support forum to report bugs or other issues.
